Douglas County Republican Party Resolution
February 28, 2013
Whereas some in Nebraska and nationally support expanded Medicaid,
And, Whereas
the Douglas County Republican Party believes that Federal money is not free whether spent by Washington, D.C., or the State of Nebraska since it comes from every Nebraska and American tax payer,
And, Whereas
the Douglas County Republican Party believes that government should not expand entitlement programs at a time when additional spending is unsustainable,
And, Whereas
expanding Medicaid in Nebraska will cost the State of Nebraska $766 million over the next ten years,
And, Whereas
the State of Nebraska cannot realistically rely on the federal government to keep its funding promises unless it first puts its own house in order,
Resolved,
the Douglas County Republican Party Central Committee strongly urges Governor Heineman and all Nebraska State Senators to oppose the expansion of Medicaid in Nebraska.
